Qualifications
Dr. Fowad Shahzad is an American Board-Certified Physician with board certification in Obesity Medicine, Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2016. This broad medical foundation supports his focused work in weight management, diabetes, PCOS, thyroid concerns and metabolic health.
Academic peer review
Dr. Fowad continues to serve as a peer reviewer for Annals of Internal Medicine. In March 2024, the journal’s Editor-in-Chief recognized the exceptionally fine quality of his 2023 review work, noting that the editors awarded those reviews the journal’s top grade and identified him among its best reviewers.
Communication and follow-up
Patients should understand why a test or treatment is recommended, what benefit is realistic, what risks require attention and what happens next. Referral to another clinician is part of good care when a concern falls outside the clinic’s scope.
